ECA Legislative Action Week recap
Attached please find a recap of ECA’s just-completed Legislative Action Week. I’m happy to report that industry leaders and advocates completed more than 80 meetings with Congressional offices over the last three days talking about the importance of supporting our small businesses, restoring communicable disease coverage to event cancellation insurance, and helping bring back international attendees and exhibitors to face-to-face business events.
On that last point, I’m happy to report an advocacy victory this morning: A few moments ago, the CDC announced that the pre-departure testing requirement for inbound international travelers will end as of Sunday, June 12. During our Congressional meetings this week, there was broad bipartisan support for ending this roadblock to increased international travel. Just last month, Morning Consult found that 46% of surveyed vaccinated international travelers said they would be more likely to visit the U.S. is the pre-departure testing requirement was lifted.
Thanks to all who participated in Legislative Action Week and encouraged their members to do so, as well. Have a great weekend ahead!
